We’re delighted to share some exciting news from The Courtyard Theatre. Our story has taken to the airwaves once again!

Artistic Director of The Courtyard Theatre and The Courtyard Studios, as well as Principal of the Court Theatre Training Company, Tim Gill, and our Marketing & Communications Manager, Konstantinos Raptopoulos, appeared on the Robert Elms Show on BBC Radio London.

In this engaging conversation, they explored what makes The Courtyard Theatre a vital cultural hub in the heart of Hoxton, and why our commitment to community, creativity, and international reach remains stronger than ever.

During the interview, they reflected on the legacy and vision of June Abbott, whose influence continues to shape the ethos of The Courtyard Theatre and Court Theatre Training Company. They spoke passionately about the importance of fringe theatre and the essential role it plays in nurturing bold, original voices within the arts.

The discussion also highlighted The Courtyard’s ongoing support for emerging music artists. From performances on our stage to exposure through our The Courtyard Studios YouTube channel, many artists have gone on to establish successful careers, something we are incredibly proud to be part of.

The realities of marketing grassroots venues were also addressed, shedding light on both the challenges and the resilience required to sustain independent creative spaces. At the same time, the conversation celebrated the exciting developments taking place across our theatre and acting school, as we continue evolving into a space that fully supports artists, production companies, audiences, staff, and students alike.

Above all, the interview was a chance to share our journey, where we’ve come from, what we stand for, and everything that’s still to come in this thriving creative hub.
