The Courtyard Theatre is a unique type of venue, in the heart of the cultural capital of Shoreditch, London. Homed in the historic Passmore Library Building. 5 minutes walk from Old street and Liverpool Street underground station, and 7 minutes walk from Shoreditch High Street and Hoxton Overground station.
Ever since the Courtyard Theatre opened up in Kings Cross in 1989 we have beena beacon for curating and encouraging inspiring performance art. We have been a pinnacle part of the fringe theatre and live music in London for three decades, we have achieved this by opening up to all genres and influences from around the world and have never shied away from experimenting or romancing controversy

The Studio is a spacious 216 capacity music and theatre studio with soundproofing, raised stage and modular flexibility. The studio is perfect for rocking out to bands in an intimate and energetic space, next door to our atmospheric bar with a refined drinks list.
Upstairs is the crowning theatre space, a large main house theatre with seating for 150 in our modular raked seating system. Perfect for inspiring theatre shows, solo musicians/songwriters, captivating panel talks, screenings and much more.
Just next door is our esteemed White room, a bright and open space perfect for exhibitions, corporate events, rehearsal space, photo shoots and network events with rubber flooring and dance studio mirrors.
All spaces are available for public and private events, rehearsal and ad-hoc / dry hire.
